Small Hands, Big Promises for Our Planet

Back to news

Following the GSNS Earth Week online Craftinar, teachers eagerly shared their students’ artwork with Engagement Officer Taolue, and the creativity was nothing short of inspiring.

Armed with markers, crayons, and plenty of imagination, students traced their hands onto paper and filled them with colourful Earth Day pledges. Each finger became a promise — a small but meaningful commitment to protecting the planet they call home.

Through their Earth Pledge hand art, students expressed a wide range of commitments to living more sustainably: planting seeds and growing gardens, saving water, using reusable lunch boxes, water bottles and shopping bags, switching to energy-saving lights and turning them off when leaving the room, walking or biking to school, reducing food waste and tossing peels and scraps into the compost bin, recycling properly, and simply spending more time outside appreciating nature.

Small actions lead to big changes — and these pledges are proof that our school communities are ready to make a difference, one promise at a time. A huge thank you to all the teachers who brought the Craftinar to life in their classrooms, and to every student who put marker to paper to share how they’ll help the Earth. Keep those pledges going!
