Green Heroes – A Story From EO Aaron
Back to newsHeroes. Who do you think of when you hear the word hero?
When I (EO Aaron) was about 5 years old, my hero was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. I loved his action movies. I thought he was the coolest person on Earth and I wanted to be just like him when I grew up (I like to think I am, but some people may disagree).
The Cambridge Dictionary defines a hero as “a person who is admired for having done something very brave or having achieved something great.”
As a child, I thought being a hero meant starring in action movies or having super strength. But as I got older, I realized something important:
Being a hero isn’t about fame or muscles. It’s about impact.
Here at Green Schools, we use the word hero quite a bit. In fact, we have a brand new presentation all about being a Green Hero. A Green Hero is someone who lives up to that definition — someone who achieves something truly great by protecting our climate, our future, and how we use energy.
And here’s the exciting part:
You don’t need to be Dwayne Johnson to be a hero.
You can be a hero in your classroom.
You can be a hero in your home.
You can be a hero in your community.
Every time you turn off a light, unplug a device, reduce waste, or inspire someone else to do the same, you are making a real difference.
That’s what a Green Hero does.
We can’t all be movie stars, but we can all be leaders. We can all protect our planet. We can all create change through small, consistent actions that add up to something great.
If you’re ready to help your students discover their potential and become Energy Heroes in their own communities, reach out to book our brand new “Be an Energy Hero” presentation.
