Sustainable Love in the Classroom 🩷

This week, Green Schools’ Engagement Officer Tao had the wonderful opportunity to connect with students across Nova Scotia for a special Valentine’s Craftinar. The session was filled with energy and creativity as we explored meaningful ways to celebrate holidays while staying eco-conscious and sustainable.

Instead of traditional store-bought gifts, Tao and the students brainstormed innovative ideas to show appreciation for friends without creating extra waste. The highlight of the event was our “get crafty” segment: transforming recyclable materials into beautiful, hand-folded origami heart cards.

It was inspiring to see how a few simple folds and a commitment to the planet could fill a classroom with so much heart! A huge thank you to all the participating schools for proving that the best gifts aren’t bought—they’re made with care and a green mindset.
