Happy March Break! ☘️
Back to newsAs March Break starts to wind down and students prepare to return to school, our Green Schools Team would like to share some energy-saving tips we have been using over the break!
Lower Your Thermostat and Spend Time Outside! Take advantage of the sunshine and lower your heat inside. Even small changes make a difference! Saving energy can be as simple as turning down the heat and heading outdoors. Fresh air, sunshine, and lower energy bills sounds like a win-win. ☀️
Plant A Tree! Planting one tree might seem small, but it actually makes a bigger difference than most people think. A single mature tree absorbs about 22kg of CO2 every year! Small actions multiplied by many people make a real difference. 🌳
Air Dry Your Clothes to Save Electricity! Harness the power of the breeze! As the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to give your electric dryer a well deserved break. Did you know that air drying your laundry is one of the simplest way to slash your home’s energy use? Plus, nothing beats that “fresh air” scent that only a spring day can provide! This small shift lets nature do the heavy lifting while you enjoy the sunshine. 🧺
Take Advantage of the Extra Hour of Sunlight! Take some time to save energy by turning your lights off and opening up your curtains. Maybe even try reading a book in the warm sun instead of playing video games. Not only does this save electricity, but the sun naturally heats your home and helps boost serotonin, making us happier! 📖
Happy March Break everyone! We can’t wait to see you in the classrooms and hear what energy-saving hacks you have been using!
