The 2026 Spring In-Person Visit Season Has Begun!

Back to news

As we head into spring, the Green Schools team is thrilled to be back in classrooms across Nova Scotia, reconnecting with students and educators through fun, meaningful, and interactive learning experiences. This season, we’re excited to offer two dynamic engagements:

⚡️🔍 Electricity Explorers Grades P–2: In this movement-based session, students stretch, move, and learn through a playful yoga routine focused on saving energy and protecting our planet.

🌤️🌎 Energy Use & Our Climate Grades 3–8: an updated, hands-on session designed to get students out of their seats and thinking critically about energy and its impact on our world.

Our team continues to be inspired by these visits and they have shared a few of their most memorable moments about their in-person visits to schools across the province:

  • Katie“I really enjoy interacting with students and teachers. Every visit is different and no two days are ever the same!”
  • Tao“I enjoy connecting with the teachers on-site and being able to see firsthand how schools are transitioning to cleaner energy. Through these casual yet insightful conversations between sessions, I can see the remarkable communities leading the way toward a green, more sustainable Nova Scotia.”
  • Luisa “In my last visit to Trenton Middle School, I had a student in the Grade 7 class share with me how my presentation had inspired her to want to pursue a job like mine as an engagement officer. She believed that our presentations created positive change in her school and the way students created conversations about energy use in the classrooms and at home.”
  • Jonah “My favourite thing about the in-person season is the positive energy you get from being in the room. Getting to work hands-on with students makes learning about climate change all the better.”
  • Aaron “One of my favourite parts of visiting schools is getting to experience the building itself. Lots of schools now have art all over the walls with positive and reinforcing messages for kids to read. I believe it is a massive part of students’ development to have positive affirmations around them. One of my favourite quotes that I’ve seen is ‘If there’s a will, there’s a way.’ With our mission, we really believe we can make a massive change and impact, and that is the foundation of our movement.”
  • Elisa “My favourite part about going into the high schools is getting to chat with the many students and teachers. It’s awesome to see the students collaborating on the activity, but chatting and getting to know their interests, what they might want to do for a career, and discussing how they can incorporate their interests and values into their work is the most rewarding. Not many students realize the vast variety of careers that support the green sector. Definitely brings me back to when I was in high school and had no idea what I wanted to do!”

Whether it’s Katie appreciating the uniqueness and joy of each classroom interaction, Tao witnessing schools transform into living laboratories for sustainability through clean energy upgrades, Luisa receiving inspiring feedback from students, Jonah enjoying the overall experience from being in the classrooms, Aaron noticing the powerful role that positive messaging and environments play in student growth, or Elisa chatting about the importance of doing what you love and following what’s important to you, at the heart of all of our work is a shared belief: meaningful change is possible and it starts in our schools. Thank you to the incredible school communities across the province who are not only committed to education, but to creating spaces where students feel inspired, supported, and empowered to build a greener future.

We are excited to be joining classrooms in-person once again, and we can’t wait to see what you all learn and discover!

The Green Schools Team 💚
