Get Ready for School Lunches with FRESHfest!

Back to news

The apples are ripening and frost is coming- pull up a seat at the harvest table! Join us Sunday, Sept 10, 2017, for FRESHfest at the Halifax Central Library!

Visit the library this Sunday to celebrate Food Resources Everyone Should Have with an exciting, interactive food festival! There will be cooking demonstrations, tasting, tools, and, of course, books! We are excited to join amazing organizations like BEEA Honey With Heart Youth (Family SOS), Bookmark, Cole Harbour Heritage Farm, Common Roots Farm, FOUND, Taste of Nova Scotia, and Our Food Project (Ecology Action Centre). Halifax Public Libraries has spearheaded this event to bring people together to share knowledge and celebrate the universal language of food.

Swing by the Green Schools NS game table where you can trace the impact of your school lunch! Where does our food come from, and where does it travel? It’s an electrifying journey we hope you’ll take with us at FRESHfest!

FRESHfest will take place 12 pm – 4 pm on Sunday, Sept 10 throughout the Halifax Central Library. Check out the Facebook event.

Interesting in growing your own food? Check out this Green Schools NS Microgreens Activity you can do anytime!

The library is collecting recipes in a collection called Tastes Like Home as a part of the festivities. You can share your recipe featuring a Nova Scotia ingredient here!
