Making A Difference, One School At A Time

Back to stories

Our Cape Breton Engagement Officer Avery has a fun, touching story to share from his recent trip to visit the schools around the iconic Cabot Trail!

While visiting the northern part of the island, Avery recently stayed at a lovely Airbnb that was located between several of the schools he would be visiting. When he arrived, he was greeted by his host and being the chatty fella he is, he explained why he was visiting the area and what his job with Green Schools Nova Scotia was. His host was excited, saying that her grandson was a student at a school Avery would be visiting! Avery got to meet his host’s grandson during his visit – the young man proudly marched over and said, “You’re staying at my grandma’s house, aren’t you?”

The school presentations were an absolute delight and on his return home, Avery received an email from his host, thanking him for being such a great guest, with a note attached at the end: “I hope you enjoyed your stay and my grandson enjoyed the seminar! I actually noticed him shutting the tap off while he was brushing his teeth.”

Small changes are how we’ll change the world.
