New Germany Elementary wraps up the year with upcycling!

New Germany Elementary’s Grade 4 students were not going to let their green year end without an upcycling event! 

Earlier in the year when Engagement Officer Natalie McMaster visited the school, the students first question was “Are we upcycling today”? So when it came time to give the Certificates of Awwesomeness to Mrs. Baker’s Green Team class, the students wanted to combine the visit with an hour of upcycling activities.

Soon four bags of garbage and recycling became beautiful creations. Natalie challenged the students to make something from waste before purchasing something new and using their garbage and recycling as craft supplies all summer long. Natalie was even presented with a heart made from old puzzle pieces!
