Tatamagouche Elementary School Litterless Lunch campaign!
Back to storiesTatamagouche Elementary School had an awesome Litterless Lunch campaign!
Engagement Officer Tabitha Coleman showed students a video titled “Esmeralda Planet Protector & the Litterless Lunch”, which they enjoyed a lot. Dressed in her awesome green superhero outfit, Tabitha chatted with the children about what they learned from the video. The teachers agreed that the video helped to deliver the message regarding the importance of a Litterless Lunch. One teacher loved it so much, she was even singing the theme song from the video. The children loved the green superhero hair too!

Props mentioned in the video were provided for what a litterless lunch should look like, including samples of the good and bad, with Green Schools stickers on the good ones! The items included: sandwich container and styrofoam container, reusable spork and plastic cutlery, cloth napkin and paper napkin, and reusable water bottle and plastic water bottle. And remember, you don’t need to spend money on fancy containers, you can actually upcycle plastic containers that had another purpose and personalize them with stickers, markers and more!
After the Green Schools presentation, Mrs. Helen Blaikie informed the students that members of the Green Team would be inspecting lunches the following week for reusable containers, etc. Every student with a reusable container received a recycle token to be entered into a draw at the end of the week for prizes. Well done!
